Link Scanner: Output explained

If you are scanning for backlinks to your website via our Link scanner, and would like to understand what the results mean, it's covered below 🧑‍🚀

New Link not found

This is a common scenario. The internet is big and complicated. We unfortunately cannot scan all links that you built or got. Maybe Google will be able to find the link, but this is a sign that it's at least not a straight forward thing for them either and that the link is probably less valuable.

Problem: The URL is invalid

The exact landing page that links to your website does not exist or at least we are not able to understand that it does. Which in most cases means Google wouldn't be able to either. Does everything work when you go to the exact URL manually? If yes: Sometimes this will resolve itself over time. So you could try scanning again 24 hours later.

Problem: The hostname is invalid

The domain itself has issues. We can't verify that it exists. Can you access it yourself? If yes: Sometimes this will resolve itself over time. So you could try scanning again 24 hours later.

Problem: We are blocked

There is not much you or we can do now if you see this message. Some websites block crawlers like Morningscore. They might also block Google in that case.

Here are some of the typical block reasons (if you want to Google it further):

401 (Unauthorised)
403 (Forbidden)
429 (Too Many Requests)
451 (Unavailable for legal reasons)
Robots.txt rules

You are welcome to reach out on the chat if you think your link should be found but is not. There is no guarantee that we can do something about it, but there is a chance
