wiil Google be able to block our keyword position updates?
Maybe you heard the wildly exaggerated news that many SEO tools could not scrape Google and get keyword position updates because Google blocked us?
Here is the situation from our end at Morningscore
Did Morningscore get impacted?
For 4 hours our keyword positions could not be updated. Then everything worked optimally again.
Will it happen again?
We have several very good providers, and they have already adapted to this new reality from Google. For example by rendering with JavaScript, which is very unlikely for Google to be able to block. Also small providers are not targeted, so if one of our big providers get hit, we can switch to small providers very fast.
Are results less precise now?
No. Absolutely not. As long as we can get results, they are exactly the same as before. And we can and will forever.
Why did Google try to block scraping?
Actually for a good reason: Some people try to manipulate Google by visiting their own ranked results and thereby signaling to Google that their page is popular and should be ranked higher. A recent google leak confirmed this can work. So we welcome this blocking, which is not targeted towards us SEO tools who simply gather data on your position, but do not actually "click" on the results and try to manipulate Google. We would never do that!
