What is a GEO Score?
The GEO Score is Morningscores metric to measure any brands visibility in AI search like ChatGPT
It is measured as a percentage and can be seen as share of voice

- Our AI takes your top 200 keywords based on your websites SEO Score and also crawls your website to understand your company and it's niche. And through a combination of those two data points comes up with a prioritized list of 100 prompts we believe are the most relevant to your business while also having high "search volume".
- We then lookup those 100 prompts in ChatGPT and other AI tools in the country you have chosen
- We look for mentions of your brand and website in both the answer and sources (links to webites)
- We then Score each prompt like this:
- 100% when brand or website is found in answer
- 20% when brand or website is only found in source
- 0% if not found in answer or source
- And then we simply sum it up and this becomes your GEO Score
- We do the same for competitors you add to your account. They are scored on your prompts.
The 100 (can vary a bit) prompts that belong to your GEO Score get looked up monthly with roughly 3 lookups per day. You can find them under "All Prompts":

Prompts in the rank tracker get updated weekly or daily (on demand via refresh button):

See this guide that explains how we recommend to analyze it
The basic recommendation is to grow your SEO, since it has a direct measurable effect on GEO. But there are many small nuances to it.
A good next step is also to generate a GEO analysis, that scores your brand and website more generally on it's "GEO readiness":
We scrape the AI chats via partners and we are very strict on the quality, and have found only one provider that delivered up to our standards, where all others failed. So in our tests and opinion the data itself is trustable.
But on the question of accuracy, we are the first to tell you that this data is not an exact picture of your actual performance in e.g. ChatGPT. Such data does not exist. This is **approximate. **We still believe it gives you a rough indicator of success rate, and leads to very interesting insights that you can use to grow your GEO.
